Reinstall, Restore, Windows 7: Disk Volume Errors

Thread Starter
I have an unfortunate issue with my second PC.
The C drive volume has disk volume errors. I've tried all the tricks in the bag to get it up and repaired, but it's still reporting errors on using system maintenance.
I figure the only thing left to do is make sure all my data is current in my backups, nuke the C drive (wipe it) and see if that fixes it and then reinstall
on another drive if it doesn't or probably while I'm waiting for it to wipe and run some diags on it.

Is there an easy way to just restore my user accounts minus drivers? Or should I just clean install and restore data as needed?
A clean install really doesn't take too long really, so I'm not too worried as I have two other comps to hold me over.

The reason I ask about drivers is this ASUS mobo won't run the HDDs in AHCI mode but on plugs 5&6 and only when you first install the OS.
Already tried the tricks to reload the drivers to AHCI from IDE and it won't work with this mobo. Also had this issue before I tried resetting drive mode. So that's
not the problem as I set everything back to IDE (3) and ran diags again.

Any help will be appreciated and thank you! biggrin.gif
PS the Mobo is ASUS M4A785-M
The HDD is a WD 750 GB Black

Well, I'll just proceed with a clean install unless otherwise. whistle.gif
