New CPU or Video Card(s)

Thread Starter
I currently have Core I7 930 overclocked to 4.4ghz. I am currently running triple 480GTX's. I have a 30 inch monitor running 2560x1600. What would be the best upgrade to play the latest games? Thanks in advance.

Nothing right now but the Titan. Tri-SLI 480s will beat out a 7970 and a 680, but VRAM may hurt you, given that you only have 1.5GB.
If you notice that you have a vram bottleneck, look into a 4gb 670/680 or a 7970.

Depends on how much you are looking to spend. Triple GTX 480 is a still a very powerful setup so anything less then GTX 670 SLI is a waist of money if you ask me.

Corssfire 7970 Ghz edition would be my pick as they are as good if not better then GTX 680's and have 3GB of vram that will be nice to have if you like to run mods or large amounts of AA.

i had 480 sli i like my 580 more, No sli issues only thing is the i7 930 is power hungry when overclocked. so are the 480s , my i7 930 @ 4.2 and 480s overclocked and power down the fan on my old 750tx ran for 5 mins after shut down.

best thing is ssd, new cpus coming out to lower the power output/heat of the cpu, and as other said 480 in tri sli is fast but memery limited. mite want some 7970 xfire or titan to be faster but titan is $$$$ i would wait and see what the next gpus can do, the new cpus are in june, but the i7 930 is still powerful.just power hungry.

Mite need a good mouse or mech keyboard, i love my yotd reds (keyboard) , or a game pad, like te n52 or g13 (i like the n52 te but died (lifetime warranty).

But fast ssd are NICE, MIte want to fill out system specs so we can help more smile.gif
