E6400: High Temps at 2.6GHz?! - Page 3

I cannot go lower than 1.36 with 333FSB.

I have not changed RAM voltage or anything... Perhaps I could change something else than Vcore to maintain stability?

I found out why I was so unstable. It was because I did not change MCH, FSB and DDR voltage.

I have set these to +0.1 and I'm now at 360FSB*8.

I still have very high temps 50C idle. I'm sure my friend didn't install the fan correctly... I'll look into this soon.

Proof:

BTW, is 50C idle/ 75C load safe??

Possibly, the heatsink isnt on tight enough (im not sure how its mounted).
Try PC Wizard 06. I use that for my core temps. If that doesnt work for you, use Speedfan (although it only provides one core temp)
I dont like to triple post, but this is at least for good reason.

THEALMIGHTYONE!

You were right! Too little thermal compound. I reapplied some more on there and I have a -15C improvement.

I'm gonna add some more since I'm now at 40C instead of 55C.

It seems you must use ALL of the compound that Zalman provides o_0'

Yah just kidding about the WHOLE bottle. But I don't have much left.

I have the Zalman CNPS9500AT

Yeah I re-coated because the previous time it was way too thin.

Thanks for your help. I'm currently at 3.2GHz... 2 hours stable with Orthos so far ^^ 56C*

haha great ^^

Oh good, I thought so, but I wasn't sure since sometimes it doesn't do that.

I raised my FSB to 410 and it corrupted my windows system file... I had to reinstall windows again =X

That made me stop... So I'm gonna stick around at 400FSB 3.2GHz until I'm brave enough to make some more changes.

I still haven't solved my RAM problem, it wont operate at the rated timings (4-4-4-12)... Any ideas about that?

I should update the BIOS =E I don't have a floppy drive so I've been using stock BIOS. Worth updating?

Edit: Updated BIOS.

I am at a brick wall at FSB 400, 100% stable.
These are the settings:

400MHz
1:1
5-5-5-15 (Not stable at stock timings. Boo Corsair)
DIMM +0.2v
FSB +0.1V
MCH +0.1v
Vcore 1.36250v
55C load

I'm totally unstable at 405MHz. I dont know what to try now.
I've tried raising the Vcore up 2 settings in DS3 BIOS.
Completely unstable although temperature is not the problem!!

Any suggestions for this? I'll be satisfied to make it to 3.3GHz clock. I just am not sure what to change.

Suggestions would be appreciated
