Really annoying issue - Laptop making constant plugged in/unplugged noises

I have an Acer Aspire 4830T hooked up to a monitor via HDMI to DVI. This issue just kinda popped up out of the blue, and it's unbelievably annoying. mad.gif

Anybody have an idea of what is going on? I honestly don't know where to even begin troubleshooting this one.

Edit: The noise is the sound the computer makes when some peripheral is unplugged and then plugged back in.

Bump. Still having this issue. I use f.lux, and just before it makes the noise, it will flash as if f.lux stopped working then come on, then make the noise. Even if f.lux isn't running it still makes the noise just as often, though.
