Powered Speakers for Casual Listening

Thread Starter

Is there even such a thing that is on the market right now?

I don't do any monitoring but I'm looking to go with a powered setup so I can save some room. I'm also curious to see what they sound like. Budget is around ~500 dollars.

Some Swans for you?

A pair of Swans H4 with a bit of tweaking on the back panel will go a long way.

There is way too many that are out there, but at the the top of my head. Swans stuff is generally pretty good. Emotiva Airmotiv, Adam AX5, Paradigm Shift A2 (That may be slightly out of your budget), NHT SuperPower, Audioengine A5, and there much more out there.

Honestly, your money is your money. I understand that you want to save space by getting powered monitors, but I really have to let you know that I think you would be much happier with good speakers and a nice dac and amp.

If that is simply just out of the question entirely, then I have to say that I am a fan of audio engine.

Are you saying that you would prefer a passive setup?

He already has a decent DAC.

Didn't you used to have some WAF-1 and Gizmo setup youra6?

I've heard some great things about that particular Dynaudio speakers.

Ha great memory. I did, but sold those a while back. Upgrade flu got me once again. For a while my ex-girlfriend used it for her setup... Then we moved together and we didn't need them anymore.
