Corsair TX750W V2: Titan SLI possible? - Page 2

2x Titan with a custom BIOS = 300W * 2 = 600W
5GHz 3930K = 300W

add HDDs, fans etc.

Honestly I wouldn't do it.

For stock it would probably be plenty but put high OCs on the components and you might have a bad time.

Nvidia says that the card draws 250w of power, so 2 cards would run around 500w, with all your CPU oc-ed and all your other stuff, I think it would be safer with a 850w PSU. But you could be just fine with 750w.

Who said im flashing my cards? im leaving them stock. They're OCed, but not overvolted and with stock bios.

i7 3930k is overvolted and OCed, but the Titan, not so much, that's left on stock volts with 100+ core added.

Speaking of that i7, its not on extreme voltage like 1.5v for 5 ghz, it's 1.38v for 4.5 ghz.

I'm not doing EXTREME overclocking, just sensible.

Yes I know but I'm just saying that I wouldn't trust a PSU that can't handle all the components with high OCs.

With the stock BIOS each Titan is capable of drawing 265W (250W*1.06).

As for SB-E power consumption:



a bit less than 250W for 4.5, varies a bit depending on the voltage but the rough value would be 250W.

So if you load all components to 100% load with the Titans and 3930K OCd you'll have 265W+265W+250W= 780W from those three components only.

Well it's obviously the worst case scenario and most games would more than likely play just fine because they wont load all the components to the max but still. It's cutting it way too close in my opinion, pretty much trusting that the PSU can deliver more power than what it's rated for.

If I can't rely on a PSU to power the rig in every stress test I'm not going to power the rig with it.

Like I said, if you're stress testing everything simultaneously you'd be pushing 750W, but it's probably fine in normal usage.

The thing is rated for 750W @ 50C. Considering derating with higher temperature, it can probably do more at lower temperatures. There exists an 850W model on the same design, so you wouldn't expect the circuit to go bonkers a little past 750W. Hardwaresecrets pulled 900W from theirs before the protection kicked in (outputs still well in spec). AnandTech did a 110% load so 825W, and everything was well in spec. Kitguru tried testing the maximum and got 835W on theirs.

yea, im thinking of doing 1.36v from 1.38v and see if it works on 4.5 Ghz... as for what loads up 12 threads, i do video editing for different people, so i appreciate the time saved with this rig.

And i found this Legitreview chart of total system power consumption... Seeing that a GTX 580 is roughly equal to a Titan power consumption wise, is it still doable?

You'll be fine. The power limiting bits of the Titan won't let you go much over the stock TDP. If they're folding (which'll max them out, games won't) and at 700w at the wall that's around 630w internal draw assuming a platinum PSU. Less if it's lower efficiency. A SB-E draws more than an IB, but not that much more without one hell of an OC.

I ran an i7 920 @ 4ghz and SLI 480s on an Antec 750W, watercooled. It was stable, but I was unable to OC the graphics cards, which is what you're not going to do anyway. I'd say it's a safe bet to run that rig on a 750W, but it'll be tight, and your PSU fan will be loud (was the loudest fan by far in my case).
