Please show some benchmarks with the latest drivers. CUDA/PhysX are not that great except for a few choice games. BF3 plays better on a 7950 (which he plays)

Like i have a folder with all the links i have ever seen on the Internet...lol Unless the 13.4 Drivers was a 100 Mile leap in the right direction, then only AMD games play better on a AMD gpu, now....a 7970 Ghz Editon i will admit will whip just about anything when OCed, but i am just waiting on the GTX 7xx series to drop wink.gif

Now, if you want to go GREEN, GTX 660Ti POWER Edition is a good Mid Card, or for the RED side a 7870 would do plenty good at a good price range.

So what could I buy? I don´t want to start a war between AMD and nVidia

I know that AMD offers a lot more of "RAW" power than nVidia but does Nvidia offers more "usable" power than AMD?

I love that pic, oh the memories lol

Well if you don't give a crap about F@H performance, CUDA Encoding, Physx Options, Nvidia Surround, TXAA AA, and Solid Drivers, and only want every last FPS in game possible, go RED HD 7870 or 7950 smile.gif

Weel I don´t care much about that, if I get at least 60 Fps almost all the time I would be happy, I just use a 1240x1024 monitor and plan to upgrade to a 1920x1080

PD: I don´t like to OC GPU´s

PimpSkyline AMD drivers are like 10 times better since 13.xx i dont understand why all the hype about it sure they were bad but that is being fixed and now they are pretty solid there is no huge gap between Nvidia and AMD in drivers department.

AS for folding my 7870 does 28k PPD, 7950's do around 40k and 7970's 50k so i think does are pretty solid numbers
post #16 of 27
get a HD 7950 boost. preferably sapphire , HIS or MSI. they have unlocked voltage. at stock speeds this card will match a GTX 670. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 5% slower than HD 7970. you need extra 50 mhz to catch up with a HD 7970. so HD 7950(1100 Mhz) = HD 7970 Ghz(1050 mhz) . the average overclock on these HD 7950 boost cards is 1150 -1200 mhz.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/his_radeon_7950_x_iceq_review,1.html

here are a few good options

Sapphire HD 7950 boost . uses a custom PCB. good dual x cooler.

HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 boost
http://www.pixmania.com/es/es/12942026/art/his/radeon-hd-7950-iceq-x2-bo.html

his hd 7950 iceq x2 boost is one of the best HD 7950 designs. reference HD 7970 PCB with 8 + 6 pin power. more power phases than ref HD 7950. better stability and lower temps with extreme overclocking. good cooler. unlocked voltage. card is 311mm long. but your case seems to be capable of fitting it .

I think I would go for the EVGA one, as I don´t plan to OC and a future SLI is sure, I´ve looked to temps and they are nice for it, and my CPU gets 9º idle, I dont think my GPU would get hot...

And to finish, when will PCI-E x16 3.0 come to AMD boards? will it be a performance increase? or will it be like Sata III for HDDs?
If it is a signature 2 ok if not it will make too much noise its my opinion why not a gigabyte msi or asus, they have very good and quiet coolers....

Well the Pre-OC cards are guaranteed from the Factory to run as those speeds, cuz they are binned higher. For 1240x1024, a GTX 660Ti would blow away Crysis 3. For 1920x1080, i would go GTX 680 POWER or 7870/7950/7970 Ghz. smile.gif

Thanks to the latest drivers, your right. And the 7970 can do 50K thanks to the 7661 WU, before that, you were lucky for 30K. But anyways, AMD i still thank won't have good Driver supports for the latest titles cuz their a little behind, but i agree, it's only getting better. smile.gif If it helps, Nvidia has dropped the ball some also, but it's cuz of AMD shifting their focus on Jaguar, so no need to Improve...i hate Monopolys lol

Just make sure you get a AFTERMARKET GPU, weather it be a AMD or Nvidia, you will be much happier. smile.gif

Drivers are fine ALL around on BOTH companies now. The whole AMD driver issue was from a long time ago. It's only CF and SLI that you see problems with drivers on these days.

But yeah, I'm now looking at the GTX650 TI Boost now. Was looking at a 7850 or a 7790, buuuuut Nvidia is pulling out all the guns now!
