Gigabyte vs MSI?

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I want to buy a GTX 670 but I don't know which one is better? In my country, the MSI is a little bit more expensive than the Gigabyte but if it is worth it, I will buy it. The Gigabyte seems to have better reviews on Newegg.

MSI 670 Power Edition

vs.

Gigabyte 670.

Which one should I buy?

I don't know where you live, but take a look at the warranty before buying.

I own two MSI GTX580 and I always thought the warranty was the same 3 years for all countries, until I tried to RMA my cards (Twin Frozr II fans biggrin.gif) and discover it was only 1 year here in Japan. So consider it before buying.

I have both a 3 X Windforce GTX 670 OC and a MSI GTX670 Power Edition OC and both are excellent products.

The Gigabyte is a smart design and very quiet even at highish fan speeds and o/c's pretty well using Afterburner or Precision X. The MSI spins the fans in reverse on start up to clear themselves of dust (which can be a little annoying however it only lasts for a minute or two). My MSI 670 does not manage a particularly high O/C, on core clock (+39 for 1408mhz at boost) perhaps that is because this is already factory overclocked but memory clock O/C is at +500mhz so getting 7048mhz stable which is pretty darned impressive!thumb.gif

Now prepare yourself for everyone else to tell you you should be buying an AMD 7970 ghz edition!

Yeah mostly I agree with this, but I have an MSI GTX 670 PE, and I can say the cooler is amazing, the performance is great, though, Mine can overclock to 1293/7400 on Crysis 3, but unfortunately because the driver is still not optimized for crysis 3 (got stutter on it) sometimes my core clock will downclock for no reason. But overall performance is outstanding !

The MSI fans are only a minor annoyance on start up and otherwise are excellent cooling fans as Sharchaster says. I managed to reduce the stutter somewhat by setting a max frame rate in Precision X. Kudos on the 7400mhz (i always seem to get a pretty average unit never the "best in the bin").redface.gif

Among those, the MSI. Its cheaper (newegg), looks way better and has a higher factory overclock. The fans stay very quiet too (I'm using a 660Ti PE, which has the same cooler as the 670 PE).

Hope this helps! thumb.gif
