Still use AS5 my self. Unless you're worried about 1-2C then the difference in most TIMs is negligible.

Our local Micro Center carries a crap ton of TIM brands and formulations. One of my more recent favorites is Antec Formula 7. I still have a large (22g) tube of AS5 around here that I use on smaller cores. It may be "old" but it's still within a couple of degrees of the best pastes on the market. Not crazy about the long curing time, but at least I know how it will perform without needing to experiment with it.

What is the cure time for AS5? Whats the best way to apply? Grain of rice, pea size in the center, stripe? i have heard of many ways to apply just not sure which is most effective.

I use the X method. I had the best temps with that method.

I bought a 4 gram tube of MX-4 and it has lasted at least 5 or 6 applications now, and it's only about halfway gone. I'd say at least 10 if you don't overdo each application.
