The funny thing is even with there "underwhelming lack of performance" my FX-8120 and FX-8350 based rigs can keep up with any game that I can play on my new i5 3570K with no lack of performance at all. The only thing building a intel rig did was cost me more money than building a AMD rig that could do the same thing. Unless it is a dual core optimized RTS game like Starcraft2 at highest CPU settings where Intel's IPC edge is still strong and relevant, the AMD chips are good enough for most games, there are even games that give the 8 core 8350 edge over 3570K like Crysis 3. Dreadful gaming performance is no longer a reason to avoid AMD chips imo, what is holding them back now is need of higher wattage PSU(+100W) & stronger Cooler(a 25% OC on 8350 is 5Ghz and need a beastly cooler, a 25% OC on 3570K is 4.3Ghz and a Hyper 212+ takes care of that).Edited by sherlock - 3/25/13 at 8:47pm
