Sound card or stay with Asus ROG onboard audio?

Thread Starter
Right now my setup is:

Asus ROG Maximus Gene Z with SupremeFX X-Fi 2 onboard audio
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131806

optical out to a Mixamp Pro 2013

Mixamp Pro to PC360 headset

Would I see a noticible improvement in audio quality with a stand alone sound card?

Any suggestions for a <150$ sound card for mostly gaming application? What do you think hi-fi heads? smile.gif

Getting a sound card won't do anything since the Mixamp is doing the digital to analog (DAC) conversion, which is the purpose of a sound card.

You'll have to either use the Mixamp or the sound card by itself.
