Gaming wise depend on how the game uses them, but for Encoding & Data compression +other well threaded apps there is a sizeable performance difference.

That's consistent with the recommendation that people get a i7-3570K vs. a 3770K for gaming. =)

Can't wait for your rip benchmark result. 24 minutes to rip a Blu-ray is pretty fast, what tool are you using to do it? I know Handbrake takes a lot longer on my 3930K with 12 threads than that, but I tend to rip mine with the higher quality profile and that adds a lot more overhead.

24minutes 34 seconds with it off
21minutes 19 seconds with it on

Avatar Bluray - Using DVDFab, that's going from 29GB to 10GB so Encode and Re-encode 1080p with the temp dump on SSD (I norm have it on a SATA so not to kill the SSD)

CPU was 54-77%

If I do a 29GB to 29GB direct like for like full quality rip to SSD it take 35 minutes with HT on, the speed is from CUDA not the CPU, with the card out the rig it take 5 times as long to do the same rip!
