Suggestions on learning php

Thread Starter
My goal this summer is to learn PHP. I want to be fluent with eCommerce design and learn how to create WordPress themes well but I'm lost on what resources to use. Ive bought about 5 php books, but Im a visual person so I dont know they we will help well. Any suggestions for on what to read for designers?

EDIT: I want to learn also the pseudo MVC architecture.

If your more into videos search for PHP Academy on Youtube, they have some pretty good resources for PHP. I think they have some stuff for MVC, not sure about wordpress; though I'm sure there is a ton of stuff out there for that as well. But I'd start on just understanding the basics do a few practice sites like a blog or w/e, then build up to a framework with MVC.

Also I believe thenewboston on Youtubehas PHP stuff, they seem to cover a wide variety of languages.

Basically, just start building dummy web sites in PHP, then progress yourself from there.

It's very hard to learn a language without just getting dirty in it (100% impossible if you've never programmed in other languages either)
