Need RAID suggestions/opinions

Thread Starter
I've been getting some stuff together for a rack server, and I'm not sure of the best way of utilizing my disk.
At the moment I have 2x500Gb drives, and will likely get another 2 in the near future, before I deploy this thing.

I was considering raid 0+1. My thoughts were to have it partitioned as following:
Code:
/boot
/root
/
/storage

And then that would be mirrored on the other two disk. I'm not a raid expert, I normally just run a basic raid 1 setup.

Server is going to be used for a multitude of things. Going to install Debian as my base OS and then setup KVM so I can make VM's as needed. If anyone has a better suggestion, please do mention them.

RAID10 is the best (safety-wise and performance-wise) setup for 4 drives.
i assume you have a hardware RAID controller in your server.
linux may sometimes cause certain issues when booted from RAID array, it may be easier (and without performance loss) to put at least /boot on a separate drive (possibly a small ssd), not in array.
in my fileserver i have / on a separate (non-RAID) drive and the array (single partition) mounted as /mnt/data
