One or Two Cards? - Page 2

post #11 of 14
Within the next year? Your setup is still very powerful. Within a year, AMD and NVIDIA will both have their new cards out. I'd stick it out until the next generation and buy a "regular" video card, you know, the kind that are under $500.

can you raise your cpu oc to 4.5GHz? do you play BF3 MP? here is a 7950 stock at 1080 ULTRA with 4MSAA . . .

6950 > 6870

7950 = (2) 6950

That is what I thought, but playing starcraft 2 is not as smooth as I would like maxed. Throughout the game I will get lag for a few seconds where my FPS drops to 17-20fps. This even happens at the beginning of the game when there are few units on the field. I am not sure why this is happening. I did take a break for a few months, but I never remember there being any lag before. I think it may be my vram since I only have 2GB collectively. Maybe my processor? Should hyperthreding be off?

I do play BF3 occasionally, but mostly starcraft 2 at the moment. BF3 runs very smooth with no problems. Would 300mhz make that big of a difference?

in bf3, at least, yes. at stock clock, my fps go down to the 50s but is still smooth.
