Meh, it'll be back on Newegg soon enough. Either way, there hasn't been as much excitement in the graphics wars since the 7870 XT and Titan were released. It was getting pretty boring waiting for any news for the Radeon 8000 and GTX 700 series.

On a slight tangent, I'm looking forward to seeing the 2GB 7790 and 1GB 650 Ti BOOST come out. When they do, then there will finally be a 100% apples-to-apples comparison possible between the two. I'm sure the outcome won't be changed all that much, but more hard data is always better.

Another thought: I wonder if it was intentional that AMD and NVIDIA decided to go different paths on the memory configuration to be introduced first. I can understand why AMD went with the 1GB first (likely in order to not further cannibalize sales of the 7850 1GB before finally discontinuing it), but perhaps NVIDIA was so eager to re-enter the $150-$175 price point that they came out with their 2GB "big guns" model first.

It would make sense, as honestly the original GTX 650 Ti was grossly inadequate for its initial price point and there was much too big a price/performance gap between it and the 660.

My guess is they removed the 1GB 7790's because Nvidia released their 650 Ti Boost 2GB variant before the 1GB, so I'm sure AMD is pushing the card makers to release the 7790 2GB. Maybe I'm wrong? redface.gif

It seems unlikely, as the proposed benefit would be greatly outweighed by the logistical problems and annoyances to both the AIB makers and retailers. That, and the extra GB of memory isn't magically going to improve its performance by the ~33% margin that the 2GB 650 Ti BOOST beats the 7790 1GB model by. If going from 1GB to 2GB could do that, no one would ever have bought the 1GB 7850 over its 2GB version.

Also, since the MSRP of the 2GB versions of the 7790 is projected to be identical to the 650 Ti BOOST 2GB ($170 for stock-clocked reference models), it would highlight its deficiencies to a larger degree. As such, it wouldn't be to AMD's benefit to take such an action.

Either way, everything I've read indicated retail availability of the 1GB 7790 in very early April. Newegg probably just jumped the gun on posting its listing, Occam's Razor and all that...

Was looking at a 7790 until I saw the 650 TI Boost. Buying over the summer. I'll buy when AMD releases the new frame rating drivers and decide from there.$150 seems to be the sweet spot

GIGABYTE has an 2GB model of the 7790. I'm sure it would get beat, but I wonder how it fairs against the 2GB Boost?

IDK...after seeing some of the benches, seems like it'd be worth it spending another $20 for a 1GB 7850
