I cannot agree more. I regret my purchase, I feel that nvidia is a greedy brand; less vram, cheap promos and higher prices.

People on these forums just don't like it due to the cooling/noise for OCs.

Diamond/Visiontek/Powercolor (same as VTX3D and Club3D, owned by TUL Corp.) /XFX stuff tends to be the cheapest followed by Sapphire, and then by MSI non-Twin Frozr. The difference is MSI is far less invested in AMD, since they also make Geforce. Of all the AMD partners , Sapphire is the most invested (like PNY is on NVIDIA side) because they also make the professional cards (Firepro) for the Asia region.

Diamond has a good 5yr warranty once registered as well.

So then what are your choices for buying a gpu if you don't want to own a product from a greedy brand?

AMD sold the 7970 for $550 at launch and 7950 for $450 at launch. Somehow getting the best price the market will bear is ok for AMD but not for Nvidia?

By the way, since you don't seem to realize, both companies are out to make the most $$$ they can from us. There is no difference between them.

Really? You are going to argue over $21? $21 more for a video card that you can use 24/7 for 18-24 months that will be FASTER? That's about 1 less Coke per MONTH in "savings". rolleyes.gif

Now you got me started on cheeseburger economics.

$21 = roughly 5 grilled chicken sandwiches from McDonalds (I think they are around $4.20), these are tasty.
$21 = roughly 21 McChicken sandwiches ($1 each), these are almost tasty.

At a cost savings of about $3 per sandwich it would only take about 7 purchases of the less tasty McChicken sandwich to make up for the cost difference between the 7790 and the 650 Ti boost.

For people that eat out for lunch every day you could accomplish these savings in a week if you also substituted water for that delicious $1 Dr. Pepper.

Edit: If you did this 5 days a week for a year you would have saved enough to pick up a 7970, or a 680 instead, and a new monitor.

I hate you. Now you are making me hungry after I had lunch. And the McChicken is tastier than the grilled chicken sandwiches.
