Newegg Opty 165

Thread Starter
Hello all.
Just got my new Opteron 165 from Newegg, shipped 12/5/2006 from the California warehouse. Stepping: CCBBE 0610 DPMW.
Fairly excited to see where this goes. I feel like I won the lottery! Anyone in the west thinking of ordering, now is the time.
I also got the 4-pipe stock HS. I had read that most of the current CPU's had been shipped with the 2-pipe design.

I will post my results soon, just gotta figure out this whole OC thing. I have been working on my 3700+, but was never too serious.

I have been quite impressed with the forum thus far, thanks for all the info.

Wow, maybe I should just order mine on newegg instead of waiting for a good ebay auction...

I wonder if I'd be as lucky as you.

Enjoy it!

I remember the day my Opteron 165 arrived from the egg. I got it, tore open the box, pulled out the box the processor came in, then started trying to open the box so I could find out the stepping. Through all the excitement I completely forgot that you can see the stepping through the window. I ended up getting ccbbe 0617 fpmw, probably the 3-4 best stepping out there. I had a great day that day. She ended @ 3.0, 2.8 24/7. I enjoyed overclocking her more then my X6800 ES I currently have it that says anything. Anyways, you are going to have a great time with that chip, best stepping out there! Good luck.

I wonder why Newegg had to pick me a CCBWE from the same warehouse......everybody's been getting CCBBE and all of a sudden they just had to give out a CCBWE to a poor guy like me, do you think I can exchange for another one?

CCBWE Is actually a better one. You will find that the CCBWE hasnt got the memory controller that suffers from the coldbug.

sorry, but you're wrong. CCBWE doesn't have the cold bug in nearly as many chips, but it doesn't have a good memory controller in it. thats one reason why it won't overclock very high.

even if you put the CCBWE under ice, max you're going to get stable is 3.2 GHz (record is 3.4 GHz just to boot and take a SS).

CCBBE0610's are some good chips. but i have seen a bad 0610. so just pop it in and go to town. if you have an aftermarket cooler such as a BT or tuniq tower or anything along those lines you might want to think of cutting your IHS off to cool your temps a bit more. it'll help you run lower voltage.

Would you provide me a phase cooler then?

~~edit~~ p.s. just be technical with them tell them reviews have shown that stepping to have issues
