Be ready to send it back out when you get it and when they give you the option for another 7970 or a 680 opt for the 680. thumb.gif

There are different opinions all around an its messing my mind. Maybe I should decide on other components first. What about the 670 over the 7950?
I have both 7950 and 670. My impressions are that they have about the same performance, but, I feel that the 670 as a more steady fps delivery than the 7950, so the 670 feels more consistent throughout the games.
Nvidia drivers are also less problematic to install, upgrade etc in my opinion.
I can't help to feel that overall the nvidia experience is a more polished one.

not sure what cpu you have but with my i7 SB at 4.5 GHz and my 7950 at stock i can max out bf3 mp 64-man server using 1080 with 4msaa and maintain a 60 minimum fps.

my 7950 is currently faster than my 7970 (stock cooler).

we are not talking about a 7850 vs 7970 or 680 here. there are 7970s and 680s that can't compete with an oc'ed 7950. games are starting to use more threads. who knows, bf4 might. i know c3 does. but you should also think that haswell is just around the corner.

Do you live near a microcenter?? $230 for an i7 3770k. If I were you I wouldn't rush into things. I would save up so you can be future-proofed. You don't have to buy Haswell you can still get a 3770k and be happy with it. I would just go 7950 and 3770k if I were you. I don't see that much of a point in going with a 7970 right now. IMO I feel like there aren't any good ones out ATM. Just my 2cents.gif
