New Build Advice

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I am looking at building a new rig for mainly gaming.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/M9iA

what do you guys think to this build any suggestions , I also have a few questions:

Will the Ripjaws x 2133 boot ok on this board / cpu combo and if so will the board down clock the ram to get a stable boot, I don't want to be stuck with a rig that won't post.

What cooler should I go for my limit for the cooler is around £75, I was thinking this Corsair H90

Any help would be appriciated.

The build looks good . I would not change a thing .

no point on the 2133 ram as the board only supports up to 2000 oc. Id stick with either a 1600/1866 from my experience AMD tends to run better at these speeds.

In terms of cooler, if your oc'ing the cpu than definitely h90 or h100 if you can find it cheap enough!!

I do see what you mean on the 2133 ram but its £2 cheaper than the 1866, so my question stands will the motherboard post with this ram even though it is rated to 2000(OC) (still can't believe its cheaper)

I defo will be Ocing I can find the h100 at £78 but was reading that there isn't much difference on performace between the two, I change my mind on this every day.

Just purchased a few of parts:

found the VTX3D 7870 Black edition for £138, very very cheap biggrin.gif

Gigabyte 990fxA UD3
128GB OCZ Agility 4
Corsair TX750M
Corsair H90

Still not sure which Memory to buy, should I still go with the RipJaw X 2133?

also due to getting the graphics card so cheap I may up the CPU to 8320

If I'm not mistaken, the motherboard will automatically back the RAM down to the speed it needs to be. I have 1866 RAM on a motherboard that takes up to 2133(OC) and it put it in at initial 1600. thumb.gif Going to be a good build. Good choice on the 8320 btw. It has a similar OC potential to the 8350... Since it is technically a lower binned 8350. thumb.gif Good choice on the video card as well. I have the Sapphire version of the 7870 XT going into my new build.
