Well the motor in it puts out 740 hp and as its electric the 738 lb-ft of torque comes in an almost flat curve. Sure its weighed down by the batteries but is hardly a 4-banger.

E-cars are part of the future. Saying that IC engines will never be challenged by them is not an argument anyone can make.

Yes, our chemical batteries are heavy and cannot even come close to the energy content of fossil fuels per weight or volume, but there are multiple supercapacitor technologies and/or fuel cells that could potentially change that in the future where nano-manufacturing will be more advanced.

Efficiency wise, the electric motors available today simply blow ICs away and are much simpler and way more reliable.

Oh, and I live in LA, so mentioning I-5 and 90mph in the same sentence is nonsensical.

E-cars have been around just as long as gas/diesel cars. They aren't the future unless battery tech is improved massively. At the moment the materials used in E-cars batteries are going to run out a lot quicker than oil is, especially if cars are mass produced using those materials.

Yeah, thats another thing. If super capacitors become what we hope they will be then electric cars will start flying off the shelves.

Doesn't matter to me though. I'll be working on cars for a living. Whatever fancy hybrid, electric, magical device they come out with it will still break, and then backyard joe will break it more, and then I make money.

I love how the Tesla Roadster only gets a passing mention though. Although not currently in production it basically met the capabilities of this car for 1/5th the price tag and pretty much all of the same features. I think all it is missing is the "superchargers" since that is really new tech. But I am pretty sure you can still meet the 3 to 4 hour charge timer on the correct connections. Also as mention 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds... and has a range of greater than 180 so it goes farther than this car.... Keyless entry, keyless start, gotta have the key in your pocket to even get the doors open though, since the handles are recessed and only "pop out" when the fob gets near the doors... if that isn't security I dont know what is. GPS on the car can be sync'd with an app on your phone, to do many things but of course tell you where your car is. I dont know what else you want for "security" but for 100k verses 500k I would have to go with the roadster, if and when they start up production on one again. If you really want one now, you can get one used for anywhere from about 60k to 90k.

This car mentioned here is pretty much yawn*... If I were to pay 500k for somethign I would expect a much faster 0-60. Seems like the only thing it may have on the roadster is top speed... but since this is a european car, having something that can go over 120MPH is actually usable, not so much here in the US....
