Bottlenecking question

Thread Starter
Ok, so I finally got my PC working and decided to try out Aquamark 3 and 3DMark 05. In aquamark 3 I got 37,000 and in 3DMark 05 I got 4285. That seems VERY low. Could my processor be bottlenecking my video card that much? I have the new nVidia drivers and DirectX9 but still nothing.

Your processor is bottlenecking that video card tremendously, and only having 1 gig of ram does not help either. Seems normal for those clock speeds unfortunately.

So should I overclock my processor as high as I can get it?

Hi,

How about posting the GFX score for AM3 and the FPS portion of 05.
Try running 06 and post your SM2/3 scores.

Oh hell, I thought your 4k+ score was was 06, not 05, I apologize. That completely changes my above comment. If you are only getting 4k+ in 05 then there is indeed a larger problem then just your relatively low CPU clock speed. Have you installed the most recent drivers from Nvidia?

I would def OC that processor. The 8 series need a lot of processing power to really shine like they are supposed to. I would also suggest another 1GB of memory. Core 2 Duo would do some very good things for that GPU.

He has bigger problems then OC'ing his CPU, although once its resolved a little OC action will help.
My guess is its a driver issue todd258. The first thing you should do is uninstall the 97.02 drivers, they are crap. D/L the 97.28 Betas http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/GRA...728-Beta.shtml
Make sure you use Driver Cleaner Pro to remove all the leftover junk from previous drivers.

Good Luck

Drivers would help. I didn't read the entire post, before posting. I only skimmed. Ocing would help quite a bit, because a lot of people are saying that the 8 series are requiring a lot of processing power to not be bottlenecked as much as they are. The power of the 8 series won't be fully used until more DX10 stuff comes out.

Well you have an 8800GTS plugged into a crossfire compatible mobo that doesn't OC (at least most Intel mobos usually don't OC much, if at all.)...

I pity you, sorry.

Oh crap sorry todd258, I thought you were the OP and that statement was directed at the OP as to what he should do first. In no way was any sarcasm directed at you..So sorry
