Looking for a nice beginner mechanical keyboard.

Hello all,

Sorry to create another which one thread, I know theres a ton of them but maybe I'll be different. I have read through almost all the threads relating to mechanical keyboards. But, I'm still at a loss of what I want. I think I have narrowed it down to the fact that I want brown switches, as its supposedly a nice medium for gaming and normal use but my roommate might kill me because of the sound. Also, I know I want a backlight, either blue or white. I think the green looks awful, and red just irritates me. I play FPS games, no RTS or MMO games, so macro buttons are not required. Can OCN point me in the right direction?

I have looked at hundreds of keyboards, but considered a few. Mainly the older generation of the BlackWidow Ultimate's from Razer (Blue Backlighting), Corsair K90 (Backlight compared to the nonbacklighted K60), the Ducky Shine II. I'm not set on these by any means, so feel free to suggests others.

Requirements:

Brown Switches? Are these loud? If so, I need to step down to something quieter.
Blue or White Backlight
Numpad
Under $160

Thanks for reading, I appreciate it. I'll reply to all suggestions, and try to help with anything I missed.

CM Storm QuickFire TK is what you want smile.gif

I just got one and it is amazing. It has everything you need, white leds, numpad, built as a tank and the brown switches are not too loud compared to my old membrane. Check it out wink.gif

When did you get yours? Have you had any issues with it?

I live in Greece and luckily it is available here.

No issues, as I said it is amazing in all areas, I couldn't ask for anything more tbh.

I've been pretty happy with my Razer Blackwidow. Not the Ultimate with the backlit keys, but the cheaper non-backlit one. There's one thing that did bother me initially, and that's the spacing between the 4-block of F-Keys at the top, and the distance between ESC and F1. After 20+ years of typing on a IBM PS/2 spaced layout, it took a little getting used to while gaming.

I like the look of the Logitech G710+ but I don't like the look of those stupid grey WASD keys. They really should include a keycap puller and a set of black WASD keys with that thing.

Cosign on the QuickFire. I have a QuickFire Rapid.

Good quality as well as cheap enough to afford if you're just entering the mechanical keyboard market. Mine is my first mechanical keyboard I've been more than satisfied with it.

I got a Ducky Shine2 with reds for my first mechanical. Because I'm so used to domes I bottom out on every key and the sound isnt that much more than me on domes. I think the only time you'll get that large clicking noise is with the blues. Browns just have the feedback.

So far I love my Ducky and the keys are very easy to press. The keyboard is just the right height, has alot of functions, can be bright or dim, and is pretty hefty too. My only complaint was that it took so long to get here from Taiwan. 2 weeks vs my monitor from South Korea in 1 1/2 days. As for my use, its between programming and gaming (rts, fps mmo, moba... all of it.) So far haven't had problems.

I couldn't seem to find any brown ducky's in stock anywhere, that's my only concern. I'm not buying this right now, but I'd still need them instock to order!
