Problem with my PC

Hello, I'm having problems with my PC, Its about 2 weeks old and I build it myself..

So the components are:

MOBO: Asrock 990FX Extreme 3
CPU: AMD FX 8350
RAM: 8GB 1600mhz
GPU: Myst 7870 2GB by powercolor
PSU: XFX 550w
HDD: 1TB WD Black as main drive and another 1TB WD Blue for some more storage

With Windows 8, 64 bit

The problem:

My PC had some issues since the day I bought it, when I played Black Ops II my PC would just randomly reboot by itself, but not in League of Legends for example.
I went to BIOS (idk much about it really) and I lowered my ram speed to 1333Mhz and the reboot stopped happening.

But yesterday when I was playing games my screen just went black for a couple of seconds and than it said something with AMD driver crashing.

than my PC booted up normally a couple of times but crashed after a minute or two... and later on it wouldn't even show anything on the monitor.. as if the screen wasn't even plugged in to the PC

and clues? could it be a faulty mobo?

That's your 7870 going bad..... Powercolor is not known for it's high quality parts....

Edit- You should still have time to return it, and you might want to consider the same type of card but made by sapphire. They actually have the opposite reputation concerning quality.

Hi Subcutaneous

thanks for the reply, well I've now reset my BIOS using by removing the battery on the mobo and when I turned on PC it worked normally for a couple of minutes and than crashed again, and than after a reboot everything was just black again, and it wouldn't show me anything just like before.

At first i suspected that something was wrong with the mobo..

but it could be something wrong with the GPU, yes, do you think they will replace it, since it was not really my fault that it "broke"..
Definately sounds like a GPU Issue. If you purchased it 2 weeks ago with the rest of the hardware it should still be under warranty. Return it and get something else of better quality.

May I ask what the purchase price of the GPU was. Maybe we can find something of better quality at that price point for you.

that's a great gpu,you might of just got unlucky. return it and asked for the same one or maybe if they have a other model of the xt/le
if you have a back up gpu. you could also for the sake of testing see if it would cause the same problem with your back up gpu

I would return it to which ever retailer that you bought it from for the cash back. Then hit amazon.co.uk and pick up this Asus Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card. You will have to wait for shipping etc. But Asus cards of that model line have superior cooling and are very good quality.

Hey .. I'm not really able to buy stuff from amazon, I live in Slovenia - Europe, not sure if they ship here.. I bought it from some Slovenian store via mail.. I will contact them and ask for a replacement.. I will also try to use a GPU from my old PC - i believe its an ATI 4850..
