Got Display or Beeps? Neither here.

Okay, built a setup recently. Parts are as follows.

PSU: DiabloTek PHD Series 650 (650 Watt)
Motherboard: Asus MS A97 R2.0
CPU/Heatsink: AMD FX 8120
Case: Thermaltake Commander VN400A1W2N
RAM: Corsair XMS3 (1x4GB) CMX8GX3M2A1333C9
Video: EVGA GeForce GT 640 2048MB GDDR3 Dual DVI, mHDMI Graphics Cards 02G-P4-2643-KR

Those are all I have hooked up at the moment.

I've ran across the internet looking for solutions and ended up finding one here, rather there was no exact answer as to what fixed it, it just was solved.

Symptoms: PC Powers on. No Display. No Beeps from Speaker. Nothing.

In order to induce some form of a beep, I take out the Video Card, generally should produce 1 Long and 2 Short Beeps. Again, I get nothing.

I've reset the Jumper on the CMOS

Put Video Card back in.

As well as MemOK! Pressing MemOK with the Unit turned off booted the computer but this time with a Red LED flashing. Still no beeps, no display.

I've kind of hit a dead end. I cant test the CPU on another board, because my other board is an Intel

Any Advice?

clear the CMOS, disconnect battery for 5 min.
try without ram, video card (make sure all the cables from the power supply
are connected on motherboard - redo it just to make sure you make full contact).
reseat the cpu.
reconnect the battery on CMOS.
power on and see if you get some post error codes (no memory, no video).
if still nothing try a different power supply. could be an issue
with motherboard combo and PSU (but normally would power down).
RMA the motherboard (within 30 days try the vendor 1st).

good luck. maybe buy a cheap pci diagnostic card from DX or ebay for
future troubleshooting.

good advice above

can you verify the graphics card works on the intel system, at least that will rule one part out

there are varioes LED's around the board are any of them lit up, probably red i spotted one for DRAM next to MemOK, CPU under CPU socket, VGA next to top PCIe slot

try out of case on a bench

ensure your 8Pin CPU connector is properly connected and also your PCIe connector for graphics card

also looks like that board has a TPU switch which I beilive is to do with easy over clocking on the board next to the white SATA 6g 1 -4 ports you may want to check this

hope this helps

The Video Card did work prior on the intel system.

One problem I'm running into is the 8 pin connector. The manual shows 3 different ways of hooking it to the mobo. I've tried all 3, none work to where to computer successfully powers on. On the other hand the 24 pin, works fine and powers the system up, albeit no video.

In regards to LEDs, there is only 1 that is lit up, and that is when the PC is powered on, which is the standby(iirc) LED. No other lights, aside from front case lights. I can force the DRAM light to come on by pushing the MemOK button, which blinks red.

Have powered it up without a case, just on some cardboard with Video Card, 1 stick of RAM, CPU and PSU, did the same as when installed in the case.

Going to do what Heuchler suggested regarding the battery, cleared the CMOS, but didn't remove the battery.

Should also note that I am running the VGA from Monitor through a DVI-VGA connector.

What's throwing me off is the Speaker, if something was wrong, it should beep, should. With or without the Video Card, as well as Ram, I get nothing.

But appreciate the responses, gonna try the first suggestion and report back.

Thanks!

EDIT: Tried Heuchler's advice, still no go. More than a little frustrated :/ had everything a week and still haven't got to use it.
