I have ZAMBEZI not BULLDOZER
post #32 of 43
That artical is a good read they all overclock pretty similar in the FX series.

Does anyone else think he is being limited with his Motherboard? due to the 4+1 phase and no Cooling for the VRM's?

Zambezi is a modification from bulldozer architecture, or the other way round I forgot!

yea I have problems with vrm throttling, no vrm cooling and inadequarte phase control which means voltages are unstable, leading to unstable clocks.

but tbh the board has 145watt TDP value where the fx is 95 TDP. an overclocked fx should be within the limits. I can get mine stable upto about 4.7+ghz for benches but throttles at full load, and it takes ages to get the correct LLC. which may be the cause of his problems.

also isn't he using stock cooling?
post #34 of 43
yes im pretty sure its stock cooling and im not sure that board has the LLC feature, doesnt look like it in the bios.

he says his voltage at idle in CPUZ is 100% load 1.390v and idle 1.416 thats with his voltage set in bios to 1.460v i think maybe or 1.440v.

Current Voltage is 1.4600 CPU-NBv is 1.29

EDIT: Where is the LLC option if there is one?
post #36 of 43
look on in your bios for LLC.

and what the problem seems to be is vdroop.

theres a few problems really mainly to do with the board. ive given up overclocking mine higher till I get a better mobo.

bios = 1.460
idle = 1.416
full load 1.390

so whats happening is when the cpu uses more performance it drains more power, LLC will counteract the voltage drop between idle and full load giving a stable voltage at full load.

all I can say is good luck because my 4+1 throttles and dips, LLC is a nightmare lol

Amdover... what ever him name is recommended me the intel burn test and it passed on standard 10 times I'm going to test high and very high if those are good I suspect that my OC is fine and prime 95 is giving me false readings on BOTH of my ADM stock GHz laptops, so I am starting to NOT trust Prime 95 for AMD

try it, also if you game or whatever activities you do on desktop make sure you test it to the max so it doesn't lock up etc. theres people that don't use torture tests but use games and alike to stress test with

im also giving it a go now!

windows 7 is so cheap to find now adays that there should be no excuse for stealing it

buy it and never have to worry about it causing any problems.

which it wont though.
