Overclocking my new 7950 Radeon Vapor X Boost Edition

Thread Starter
So I received my new card today and was playing around with overclocking on this card and was wondering what should I watch out for in terms of stats (voltage limits, power limit limits, vrm temp limits, core temp limits etc).

Overclocking still in progress and testing with heaven 4.0 at 1080p maxed out everything else.

So far: (8pin+8pin version)

Core V: 1.150
Mem V: 1.6 (Stock)
Power Limit: +20%

Core speed: 1100 mhz
Mem speed: 1500 mhz (still in progress of finding limit at core v of 1.150)

TEMPS: (99-100% load)

Core: 64c
Vrm temp 1: 66c
Vrm temp 2: 68c

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Post is constantly updated as I get better results.

Do you have voltage control?

What program are you using to overclock? CCC?

You can easily go to 1.3v
I would say arond 70C is safe smile.gif

guru3d always says that max voltage in MSI afterburner or your max card voltage is safe for daily overclocking as long as temperature is safe (I think under 70c is most safer although 71 - 74c also safe)

I got the same card. For voltage control i need to use non boost bios and force constant voltage in trixx. If i use the boost bios i can change settings in afterburner/trixx but when montoring nothing happens to VDDC with gpu-z. Make sure you are not being foooled by that, because the voltage you run now sounds alot like the boost voltage.

Yeah I figured that to OC, I should start with non-boost bios.

Heres what I've hit so far (I lowered the RAM a bit, I will try to find the new wall for that)

- Voltage -
Core Voltage: 1.25v (GPU-Z shows 1.16-1.19)
RAM Voltage 1.6v (stock)
Power Limit: +20%

- Clocks -
Core clock: 1200mhz
Mem clock: 1400mhz

- Temps -
Core: 66-70c
VRM1/VRM2 : 64-70c (seems to float around that point)

Good luck. I have the same card, the VP-X 7950 Boost edition.
What does your GPU-Z says in terms of ASIC value, BIOS information and memory brandname?

What software do you use to reach 99-100% load? 3DMark? Furmark?

Based on what you wrote here, i think you have pretty high ASIC. 1.19v on core and 1200MHz. Sounds good.

those are very good clocks and excellent temps. less than 70c at 1.2 ghz is amazing. enjoy thumb.gif

Ok, so for some reason Crysis 3 at max settings and 1080p is more intense than heaven 4.0 -.-. My temps were higher (75 on core and 78c on vrm)

I saw some artifacting at 1.18-1.19v on core due to vdroop (1.25-> 1.18-1.19 at 99% load) in Crysis 3. I think I need to turn on force constant voltage for maybe 1.2-1.22. Is this option bad?

EDIT: Temps fixed : ), didn't think removing my push/pull AP-14 fans on hard drive cage to push would affect temps this much.

How do I find the memory brandname?

My Asic value was 63.9%.

Bios was 015.025.000.099.000000 (113-210PBBBD-V07)
