Will Be Bleeding and Leak Testing Tomorrow; Am I Missing Anything Big?

Thread Starter
Like the title says, I will be bleeding and leak testing my loop tomorrow. Since this is my first time building a PC, let alone a water cooled PC, I wanted to make sure I am not missing anything or doing anything wrong. Only thing I am kind of concerned with are the compression fittings having so much extra thread where the tube and fitting meet, I hear there should be some but it seems like I left quite a bit; I tightened it as much as possible by hand...however, some of those spots were hard to get to.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just get them as tight as you can by hand and put some paper towels down, then fire up ONLY the Pump, unhook the 24 Pin and 8 Pin and GPU's and let her bleed out the air, flop the Case around some and let it pump for...20 min to an hour, give or take and then shut her down, hook everything back up and kick her on. Check the Temps on BIOS for the CPU, if it's below 40C then your good. If it's above, might want to double check the TIM on the block or hit the CPU block with a small rubber hammer or your knuckle better yet to dislodge any air. Same goes for the GPU, but you will have to boot into Windows and check Afterburner for those temps, below 50C is good. smile.gif

I could be more exact on temps, but idk what CPU and GPU your running. lol

Np anytime. Well since your rocking a 6 Core HT CPU and 3 way SLI Titans, my temps are spot on thumb.gif The 3930K might run in the 50's under Load and the Titans might get as high as 60C, thanks to the BOOST 2.0 on them, they clock till they hit 80C or a Volt limit of some sort. I would OC them anyways though, same with the CPU lol smile.gif

Ah, fellow water cooler virgin.

I lost my cherry not so long ago myself, and from what i can tell, you want to cover the PSU before bleeding. You have a 3 way water bridge that can leak, allot, if the o ring is off, and it is really hard to say if its off or not. Compression fittings are pretty reliable, you need to be down right careless to make them leak, however, you can loosen up the actual fitting when screwing the compressor in place so be sure to double check every fitting before filling, just in case.

Other than that, there is lots of good advices already given.

Yeah, I am kind of worried about the sli bridge. I used silicon grease to keep them down so I am pretty sure they are in right (trying to put those O rings in without grease it is a feat I believe to be impossible, wasted a good hour trying to get them to stay).

Thanks for the advice.

Did you mount the bridge while the cards are installed in the case?

I mounted the bridge out side of the case with it laying on a table edge with the o ring on, after that I placed the card on top of the bridge making sure the o ring is in place and screw it in from the bottom. Didn't have any issues with the o ring moving. The card and bridge should be bolted on and assembled before installing the cards into the case.

Everything went surprisingly well... I was ready for the flood gates to open, but all went as planned.

Can I leave my funnel contraption in for the 24 hour leak testing to get all the air out? or should I close the loop once I do not hear bubbling?
