I got Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 however I don't have any word processing software, so I would like to ask you guys if you know any that is good and totally free.

I would like to have one that has power point, word processing, excel spreadsheet and etc that is quite similar to Microsoft Office.

I like Open Office - got me through college without needing MS office (and still being able to open/save as MS office files), there's also LibreOffice - Ubuntu seems to come with that by default now I think thinking.gif though I need to play around with it more to see why they switched to it...

Hello there!

I would primarily suggest Microsoft Office which i think is the best but might becomes a little pricey for individuals and students. If you are looking for a free software then there are lots of softwares that you can try. Few of them are Neoffice, Abiword Jarte etc. Click here to read detailed review about these and few more similar products in order to pick up the best fit for your work.

Haha, thanks, but I already got my answer a long time ago, lol.
Thanks though, there is already a free Student Office 365 that you can sign up. tongue.gif

Hi,

Go for OpenOffice Writer or LibreOffice Writer..
I know this thread was resurrected from the dead, but here's my opinion on the subject:

Drive - Simple but very handy to share documents and work on them in real time. Stopped using it regularly once it went from Google Documents to Drive and the privacy issue rose up. Still use from time to time since it's very handy to share documents but I might try Office Online next time since it seems more powerful.
Office Online - Seems pretty good and with a stronger set of tools than drive (last time I tried it). Never shared a document though
WPS Office - Best free offline solution I've found. They seem to focus a lot on compatibility with the Microsoft suite which is a plus for me.
LibreOffice - Used it for a long time and I used to recommend it since it was a free and open source alternative. Then I started getting problems handling normal ".doc" files. Funny thing, I then realize almost everyone to whom I recommended it had one or more problems with it and went back to Microsoft Office worriedsmiley.gif
OpenOffice - Left it when the LibreOffice became a fork. Didn't go back to it since my problems would probably remain. A quick search tells me they're very similar, with Openoffice having slower updates due to their licensing.
Free Office - Tried it for a bit but was far more impressed with what WPS offered.
