amd fx 8120 bottleneck?

Hello guys my current system is:

Asrock 970 extreme3
Amd fx8120 stock turbo is enabled
8gb of ram at 1333mhz
gtx 550 ti 2gb of gddr3
and a 750w psu

I was thinking of upgrading my gpu and at the end of this month i will problably have enough money for a 7970 but im not sure of that and if i dont i will go for the 7950.
But since i am using an amd fx 8120 at stock with turbo core enabled ( i wont overclock cause of heathing ) will my cpu bottlenck the 7950 or 7970?.

Btw before recommending a new cooler i have the hyper tx3 evo installed and since im on a tight budget i wont install another cooler.

You could oc your processor to 4 Ghz on that cooler. Then it would not bottleneck your card. Also, if you are on a budget, go with the 7950 instead of the 7970. Its offers much better performance for each dollar you spend

well im using turbo core now and with stress testing in prime95 for like 10 min i get 62C when using Open Hardware Monitor to look at the temps. Well the temperature #1 will be 62C which i assume is the cpu but the temperatures from each core will get 10C to 15C less and i dont know if i am supposed to look at the core temps or the cpu temp and i am assuming the cpu temp just to be safe. Also when i am browsing the web i get around 15C on core temp so since that is extremely low i will look at the Temperature #1 until someone will tell me to which one i should be looking at.

you should look at the package temps as they are the one's that i refer to. i'm assuming that your temps would not vary largely between the two. Now you could overclock it to just 4 Ghz and see what temps you get. But i still have this hunch that your 8120 would still be able to keep up with the 7950 at stock clocks unless you aim to Cross fire down the lane

What do you mean with the package temps? (im kinda new to this stuff)
And i actually prefer not ocing because im only 15 years old and dont have alot of money so if it breaks i cant afford a new one.

if your core temps are going to 62*c then you have a problem with your cooler. But if you are reading 62*c of the cpu socket then you are fine for now. Your cores should not go above 62*c with the fx 8120/50, you'll get throttling and possible thermal shutdown. Look at the 8 different temperatures of the cores and make sure they aren't going anywhere close to 62. Unless you are overclocking then the cpu socket should be fine in general.

Oke thankyou my core temps arent getting near that, and my socket temps is around 50C (depends on the game) highest in games untill now is 56C so i think overclocking is not an option. Btw thank you guys for the replys
