See, this is the point where people stop taking you seriously, if any still were.

I mean, really, you even quoted the article yourself on the 27th.

Correction on my part, FCAT is a collection of utilities, which includes the overlay util. pcper are using a dvi capture card and splitter, so fcat+capture+splitter = you can do this yourself. Start overlay util, run game, video card connects to splitter, one splitter output goes to monitor, other to capture device, then run the formatting scripts on the capture.

There are cheaper dvi capture devices than what pcper uses, and splitters are cheap.

keep in mind the storage requirements and the limitations of cheap capture cards.

Yep. For storage my system is capable as is, I have 32gb of memory, using fancycache configured for caching writes, way faster than the ssd array pcper uses, the 25GB runs they talk about would fit in ram, I'd flush to disk after the run. My concern would be vetting the capture device to be sure it's capable of what's needed.

A web cam version would really lower the bar. You'd lose in picture detail, bad for reviews I suppose, but I would think it'd retain enough quality for metering, be resolution independent, and lower bandwidth requirements.
