Ought a Gaming Keyboard Be Wired?

Ought a gaming keyboard be wired? (as opposed to wireless)

If so, why?

I never ever had an issue with a wireless keyboard nor a mouse.

So it does not have to be wired.

If there was a wireless mechanical keyboard, I would get it for sure. I am stuck with wired because of this reason.

You might want to look at the KB Talking Pro then.

Wow... that's cool. Now, I want it backlit and tenkeyless. That would be perfect.

Unfortunately, battery power would get in the way of the backlight frown.gif . One can always hope though! (I'm with you, I'd love that to happen)

IMO All gaming peripherals should be wired, for the same reason you should be gaming over a wired connection- Increased latency and packet loss happen on the best wireless connections.

I'm sure this will invite a crapload of responses like - "But I use a wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and play games over my wireless router and I'm an unstoppable gaming beast."

I was playing Crysis 1 the other night and having some lag response from my keyboard. At first I thought it was just the game but then had the same issue with Bioshock. I think it has to do with the wireless receiver not having a direct line of sight to my keyboard but there isn't much I can do about that. I am going to try changing the batteries and see if they were just low. I'm not saying this means wireless shouldn't be used but it is something to consider if that's the reason I have had this occasional problem.

I just don't see the benefit of wireless on a device that most likely always sits at the same place.
