And, comparing iOS to Android is a bit off, because iOS is inferior to Android and runs much less stuff (which is how it's able to appear as smooth as Android).
What would you need 4 cores on a phone for anyway?

Iphone 5 is the cheapest made iphone and the quality of IOS (the little the OS does) is going down hill and has been going down hill since IOS 5.

What do you need a phone to do? As for customization, jailbreak if you want to change more than the background and ringtone.
Most people use them for calling, texting, listening to music, take photos/videos, use facebook, play terrible free games from the app store and maybe watch a youtube video once in a while.
Both the iPhone 5 and SGS3 are more than powerful enough to do those things.
It is good, but it's not better than the iPhone 5 in the real world, and equally the iPhone 5 isn't better than the SGS3 in the real world. Both phones are just as over hyped as each other and both are just as good as each other in the real world.
("It" being the SGS3)
