i think the Thermalright HR-02 Macho for $43 is your best bet then... I wouldnt get anything cheaper/worse though

I turned off the pump of h50 and temp grew by almost 100%

With pump 50-55c (1.7ghz .860vcore)
without 90+c 1.6 ghz(1.6ghz .830vcore)

tested when running CS:Go

Without pump it's like the comp isn't even turned on drool.gif

The pump is making a lot of noise! I am actually valuing this even more, I would gladly pay more for a decent fanless passive cooler.

Elohim, thanks for your suggestion, I would consider that but I think I have changed my mind a little, I would definitely pay more. Preferably no more than $85 given that is excellent cooler and I don't have to run at 1.6ghz with ht off, and also be able to load cpu to max without dangerous temps.

This pc is totally fanless by the way.

Running an H50 or other AIO without the pump running is about the absolute worst 'passive' cooler you can make. That essentially makes the cold plate the only thing absorbing heat (with minimal heat being removed from the stagnant water surrounding it). Not a good idea.

since you are running at stock get a 2600s...unless you have the k then by all means try to undervolt it.

the cythe ninja 3 rev. b can run passive as well http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cpu/121/scnj3100_index.html

For under $85 i would recommend the Phanteks 14PE, wich is $80 incl shipping atm.

This is arguably the best passive cooler aside from the Nofan...

Thanks.

Meanwhile until I get the new cooler, is the stock intel cooler better at passive cooling than h50? I think the pump might have died lol biggrin.gif

Have the stock intel fan (2600k) that I never used.

Using a water cooled system with the pump turned is very close to running a CPU with no cooler on it at all.

Yeah I think so as well. The temps at idle are 80-85c and this is with the lowest possible clocks of 1.6ghz w/o ht and .810 vcore !!

As soon as I turned on the pump(which isn't dead) the temps at idle are at the 40s c even when loading the cpu at max doesn't go past 50c.

I agree with Elohim about using a Phanteks PH-TC14PE or similar but would run a quiet stock fan in middle of cooler or somewhere in case so there is a little air movement in the case.

My avatar image is a TC14PE with a duct from top of cooler to top vent. I can turn off all fans in case and it will not go above 70c.. but the cooler venting out top with fan shroud on bottom, in middle and duct at top allows it to function as a chimney.. as air warms up in the cooler it rises expelling hot air out the top and pulling more cool air in. If I turn on a single fan at 700rpm the temps drop to 60c... and you can't hear it at all.

This might help you:

http://www.hardwaremax.net/reviews/kuehler/488-test-thermalright-archon-sb-e.html?showall=0&start=7

to sum it up: they use a 2500k (3.0 GHz/1.0V) with the Phanteks completely fanless at ~72°C, but that's after running prime for an hour or so...
(the Nofan was 7°C better, the HR-02 Macho ~8°C worse, everything completely fanless too obviously).

so with HT off, and similar voltage, or mabe even slightly higher, you should be more than fine with the fanless Phanteks, considering you most likely wont have 100% load for a longer period of time, if at all....
If not, you still have the option to use a very slow spinning inaudible fan....
