My thoughts on GTX 700 Series - Page 5

I always go for the top gpu in a series, went with a 295GTX and it served me right up until I got 590GTX, skipped the 4xx totally, now I have skipped 6xx as well and will see about getting a 790 or 780 depending on how the dual GPU on the 790 performs vs 780 single GPU.

For me the benchmarks in software like 3D mark is useless because I am getting my GPU to play games, not rack up top score in a benchmark. If they can't make it worth my money by giving it enough power and writing drivers that can play the games I want to play there is no reason to get a new GPU.

If the 7xx series just ends up being an upgrade of the current chips, just to get a few more % but they ask for full price they ain't getting a cent from me.

I would also just state the fact of this which is relevant to the sli thing. Sli scales well, and also consider this. We need a fair comparison. Your chart above is comparing a 690 to a titan, but the 690 is a dual card. Why don't you look at benchmark of 4 way titan vs 690 on surround gaming and then I think it will be clear what comes out on top. I might be wrong but i remember seeing this benched and nvidia saying that at a point the 690 can only handle so much. The titan was given 6gb of memory and extra bandwidth because of its architecture, and can handle way more thermal design than the 690 could meaning better performance due to gpu boost 2.0. Again i'm just going by what have seen so far, and or heard from the nvidia site. What I probably actually should've said gtx titan is the fastest single graphics card on the planet, gtx 690 is a dual card and comes very close in performance to it.

my guess is that they are going to release "titans" every new series now that uses a bigger die, so if we see a gtx 780 we will see later down the road a"titan" version of that. they are just so ahead of the game. i hope AMD/ATI keeps up for a competitive market, hopefully 8000 series will be 100% increase over 7000 series and be released at the end of this year.

Dream on, and leave a number of that dream so we can all join in, and don't forget the unicorn and the rainbows.
