LOL. You only get a decent amount of content (not even close to overwhelming) and maps if you buy all of the ridiculously priced DLC. Otherwise you get a measly 9 maps, and only two game modes that are worth playing. Tons of playing styles? Hardly, it's just a casual FPS. You can run and gun or camp, it just has some small variations such as medic or engineer classes.

I'd really group it into three playing styles; infantry, airborne, or tanks/armored vehicles which is nothing new in this genre. It's only new to those who only previously played Call of Duty, since lots people act like the only two game series in existence are Call of Duty and Battlefield. lachen.gif

Graphics are hardly relevant for a game like this, but they are often overrated as well. There's no skill ceiling at all, BF3 is a casual game. The only required "skills" are compensating for the poorly done bullet drop (which is very easy since there's no need to worry about windage) and knowledge of the maps, which comes naturally over time to anyone who isn't brain dead.

Teamwork is not emphasized due to the lack of VOIP, and you're only going to get teamwork in private servers with people you know, combined with something like TS3.

The game tries for some realism but laughably fails. I'm referring to, of course, the ballistic system which is so unrealistic and poorly done that I wouldn't frown upon those who prefer firing lasers like in Call of Duty. Most things you pointed out, including the ridiculous but sometimes funny "Battlefield Moments", aren't exclusive to Battlefield; they just aren't found in its counterpart (Call of Duty).

Anyway, if you like casual shooters with a bit more variety than Call of Duty, then you might like BF3. There's nothing great about it really, and it has too many flaws for it to be great. It's poorly balanced, has poor hit detection, doesn't emphasize teamwork enough, horrible spawn system in TDM, bad ballistic system, horrible weapon/weapon attachment properties, and is simply too casual for me.

I've been gaming for a long time and I don't appreciate the backwards trend of casual games becoming more popular. But if you're relatively new to gaming or are just not serious about it, and want a purely mindless PvP shooter, then BF3 might satisfy you
.

love your rant ...

but you are bashing BF3 like you know it , i would like to see your stats

... and the other thing , you pointed out some stuff , as if you had a base to compare them to ... what other game besides CoD , you are naming here ? because i dont see it , and dont try to pick games one by one , like .... Sniper Elite ... World of Tanks , ArmA ... try to find a complete package with all the stuff you are bashing from BF3 , and spit out this "better" BF3 game , in the end BF3 is the complete "package" , dont come up with nostalgic antique games either

do tell please , do tell smile.gif

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
i bet you are going to pull the ArmA card

BF3 base game is still a solid complete package of a military themed fps for 5-10 bucks you find it at.
Gameplay is a nice mix of run and gun CoD and more tactical of old Battlefields.
Enough content to keep you there for awhile. The base maps are rather underwhelming at times though.

Against BC2 they trade blows.

There is never going to be a "perfect" online FPS, but TO ME BF3 is the best option out there. A multitude of vehicles to choose from, large 32v32 player maps, a good "Variety" of maps(small, med, large), numerous weapon options with different attachments, and destructible buildings.

This.

Everytime a new shooter comes out Im left completely disappointed with the gun handling, sounds and feel. BF3 has no equal in this regard. Thankfully tomb raider has come close in fun factor with the pistol/bow and hitman is half way there.

BF is one of a kind ATM, followed by MOH warfighter.

Tee hee. He failed to touch the relative concept of fun, something where his strong opinion didn't touch, INB4 Arma, which can hardly be considered a game. After stalking his steam page, I see his three number one games are Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, and Amnesia, that said, I don't really feel like it's appropriate to bash BF3 for being 'casual' or 'skilless,' when in reality it seems your taste in games leans more towards empowerment simulators.

Please enlighten me how 22 maps, 20 guns, and around a dozen new vehicles for 50 bucks is overpriced. Also, how does class based team multilayer entirely exclude teamwork?

I think you should keep your elitism aside before you start stating your opinions as factual, and bashing other peoples.

Dunno, how much does it cost to pay a 3D modelling guy to remake an old computer file ?
Is it any more complex than applying a new texture, hitting 'save as' and then going for your lunch ?
I ask from all naivety here.

I have Arma 3, it is junk, a really boring game made for the slow people of the PC community, i mean this seriously.
If you like graphics i suggest downloading Heaven 4.0 than wasting it on Arma 3.

BF3 delivers a good paced game with tactical elements.

I would love to see this "run and gunner" take all the Mcoms in a rush game.

I came from preferring BF2 over the COD series simply because it was more realistic. Squad based combat instead of everyone running around pretty much fighting on their own. No teamwork.

I am a fanboy of the BF series in general. I think they did better with each release than the MW series did. The MW series just seems like the same game over and over and over. No matter what release it was.
