Here is a card from a reputable ebay seller. Its an auction but only has 6 hr. left.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HIS-Radeon-HD-7970-3GB-384-bit-GDDR5-PCI-E-3-0-x16-H797F3G2M-Reference-Card-/321094927077?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4ac2bfc2e5
Its HIS and appears to be a reference based design.Has black/brown pcb too, so looks like one of the earlier designs.

Yeah I already contacted that seller, that card's closing bid will be about $365 shipped. He's has a 7970 sapphire dual-x that has a reference design pcb. Which he doesn't have listed and offered it to me at a good price.

But first Im going to ask him for pictures/proof that it doesn't artifact and if it indeed runs good. Cause I don't need this mess to happen again.

Good deal.I have tortured the heck out of a HIS 6790 ICE Q Turbo X,had it running @1125MHz on air, from 900 stock. That should be a solid reference card if you go that way.The dualX would be my choice though for air. thumb.gif

I found out something kinda interesting and funny at the same time..i disclose ive never purachesed anything from ebay so i have no personal opinion about them other then what i heard ok? Anyway my wife bid on a camera a few years back and ended up paying 150 for a keychain camera! A toy! But it was listed as a working camera....she bought other things like cell phones but she took a hit on the camera! .......then I read a story about a kid/teenager selling knock off cb radios on a similar sister site but check out what the catch was....he took pictures of cobra cb radios and listed the specs as being cobras,$400 dollars I believe? Anyway what he would do once he recives payment he would send out a cheep $20 dollar kmart cb radio!....i dont know how many people he ripped off but a trucker gentlemen placed an orderwith him when he recevied his packege u can be sure he wasnt to happy...what came next is the shocker! .....after refusing to reffund the guys money the trucker decided to send the seller a packege himself! The packege was none other but a pipe bomb!if iam not mistaken it killed the kid and his mother he was supporting! The trucker got life in prison/ the feds found on his computer he looked up how to make pipe bombs! A sad story indeed! Be careful shopping guys that was my whole point with this story

I recieved the card in the mail the other day and decided to install the card, which cosmetically looks great, really clean. Installed the latest 13.3 Beta 3 drivers from AMD.

Left everything at stock in Msi Afterburner. And tested out a few games....

First the first few low end demanding games I tested ran great no problems at all but the games were only using about half the GPU's power (noticed through Afterburner onscreen display)

So I decided to test out a few more demanding games such as Dirt Showdown, BF3, and had some terrible artifacts show up. - The GPU was at full 99% usage here. But unplayable due to artifacts.

I decided to test Unigine Heaven benchmark and the same result absolute mess.

On some occasions after existing out of games/benchmark my desktop would artifact as well and sometimes cause BSOD.

So now I'm left with a defective card. And Im pretty disappointed about it.. I guess that's what I get for buying used on ebay thinking I was getting a killer deal.

I just messaged the seller with 0 feedback he just registered earlier this month right before he listed the card. Asking for a full refund.

But the problem is his listing clearly states he does accept returns....

What do I do now? And yes please don't lecture me on why I should never buy a used ebay card. I learned my lesson the hard way. This is the second time I've been jipped on eBay.

I'm never buying a used card again off eBay.

Also is there a possible fix that I don't know of?

Contact paypal and open a dispute saying the item is not described correctly, "Like new or excellent working condition".

That will get you your refund.

I may be late to the party though.

Certainly if you are in the UK the "no returns" thing is meaningless. If it is in the condition you say it is then it is clearly not "excellent working" and he has to give you your money back, or rather Paypal/Ebay have to give you your money back. If that fails you should get in touch with Trading Standards (I think they are incorporated with Citizens Advice now).
BTW I have bought and sold a number of computer parts on ebay mostly without problem but I generally ignore people with Zero feedback, or those who sold a lot of things till say 10 months ago, stopped selling and then started again - this is usually the sign of a hijacked account.

The amount of hassle I have had with eBay is one reason I do not use it anymore, and you are a sucker for going with a 0 feedback redface.gif

Yeah I know, you gotta start somewhere as a new member 0 - 100% But what can eBay do if the person has got your money already?

Threaten the member with suspended account? They are not the police, all that bravdo they can do this and that is ........

Your best bet is is take him/her to a small claims court

i forgot why you want a reference PCB? I thought you aren't interested in watercooling. Only SLI later.

And remember that you won't get the bundled games if you buy from ebay. Unless its new and comes with the code.

You mean crossfire? biggrin.gif And yeah as Ive mentioned before those bundled games are worthless to me, they aren't valid in the country Im in.

Also personal preference to wanting reference PCB.
