7870 LE no POST...RMA?

Just got my Powercolor 7870 EZ edition LE XT card and if the card is in any of the two PCI slots in my Gigabyte Z68XP UD3 1.0 mobo, my computer does not POST. Keyboard and mouse does not get any lights, monitor does not get any signal. GPU fan is running and everything else is fine.

My 3770k by itself without a dedicated GPU can run on itself with Intel 4000 graphics after doing a BIOS hard reset (taking out the battery). Is this a sign of a DEAD graphics card? I have never dealt with a dead gpu before so I'm not sure of all the symptoms. I just wanted to make sure before sending it off to NEWEGG.

Refund is not an option cause of NEWEGG 15% fee, and shipping will cost me 5-6$ no matter what. So, What do you guys think? When you received a dead GPU, were the symptoms like this?

Gigabyte mobo gives the following error code:
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error

Sounds like a dud, but do you have another card to test? If another works then obviously the card is DOA and not an issue with your board.

If you received a defective product you shouldn't have to pay a restocking fee or return shipping for an *exchange*.
Just call Newegg up over the phone, I've had much better experience doing this than submitting RMAs online.

This. The quality control on 7870 LEs are so bad, not to mention the myriad of problems that a "working* one has.

Might have the best price performance of mid range cards right now but it isn't worth the headache.

Im assuming the card is one of the new tahiti cards if so update ur motherboard to the latest bios sometimes the cards uefi bios wont work with the motherboard bios (this is where alot of the "dud" claims come from) update your motherboard to the latest bios and contact powercolor if that dosent solve the problem

this is a knows issue with some boards and powercolor will work with you to fix it

I will keep that in mind. But these LE cards are flying off the shelves faster than hotcakes. These are getting sold out every time they come in stock!! I have already sent the card back to Newegg... Hopefully the replacement turns out okay. If not I will get powercolor to help out. My Bios is updated to the latest iteration last time i checked.

good luck with your new card I remember reading somewhere that powercolor has a standard bios that you can use if the UEFI bios is completely incompatible with your motherboard

also it seems that people with gigabyte boards seem to be having the most troubles with the cards new bios

and ya they are moving very quickly I just picked up 2 of the powercolor myst cards the other day for the price ($207 with a promo code) you really cannot beat it
