New RIG need help!

Thread Starter
So I want to build a new rig which will run mostly Arma III, and those other kinda GPU/CPU consuming. I'm a big graphic fan and I do love good FPS(like everyone) so yeah for now that would be the rig I plan on building. I'm pretty new to all this, so if something is missing or that wouldn't be running good with the rest just let me know. I plan on 1.6k limit. I know it's not alot but it's all I have.redface.gif

MoBo : GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Graphics : EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Power sup : CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Processor : Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000

Memory : Intel 520 Series Cherryville SSDSC2CW240A3K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Ram : G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM

Cooling : CORSAIR Hydro Series H80 (CWCH80) High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

And the case is the Antec twelve hundred gaming V3 black steel.
(yes these are copy and paste from newegg sorreh)

So yeah this setup is costing me 1.6k which is my limit.

Thanks!!biggrin.gif

MB is old gen - get a Z77 board
CPU is old gen - Get a 3570k instead
16gb RAM is way to much for gaming, they are only now using a bit more than 4GB

Re calculate the cost with thses parts, it shoudl come across the same

I don't know where you're getting $1600 from. It's a little over $1300 on Newegg.

Anyways, for gaming, just go with 8GB of RAM, 16GB is overkill.

As Pedroc said you might as well go with a Z77 board and a 3570K CPU. Better performance at practically the same cost.

Anyways, that setup should allow you to max out most games right now and doesn't have any bottlenecks, so I'd say you're good.

Why did you start this thread again? Anyhow I will just post what I posted in the other one.

I agree with everything posted here, the 3570k is usually within $20 and is a decent enough jump that its well worth the price. 8GB is more then enough ram, either 1600 or 1866 if you want (I did, dont regret it).
I will see what I can do for you in terms of deals 1 second.

If you live anywhere near a MicroCenter you should check out their combo prices for 3750k and Gigabyte z77 UD3h. You will save $40 off and sometimes the base prices are really good too!

price to price. the ATI cards are better. meaning 670 VS 7950 . 7950 can be OCed to put perform the 670 and have more vram. same applies to 680 VS 7970.. and they are cheaper smile.gif
unless you want physx
get ATI biggrin.gif

I went to microcenter, got a 3770K for just a wee bit more than I would have paid for a 3570K online, plus you feel like a kid in a candy store. You get to eyeball all the cases!
