Looking for a new gaming keyboard around $70 preferably if it lit up blue, as it's for a friend with a blue themed setup.

Thanks

if your requirements include the keys be mechanical you may be a ittle hard pressed. the g110 from logitech is what i use and its a great daily drive with good macros, media buttons, full number pad, and lights up red, purple or BLUE. hope that helps smile.gifthumb.gif

if you want mechnical then there are some basic models out there that may fit the bill but not light up

For 70 bucks you won't get a mechanical keyboard but some realy don't like them and there a plenty of keyboards worth considering that are not mechnanical.

Gigabyte osmium
roccat isku
razer lycosa (i owned one i used it like a madman for years , now the ruber has worn off a little bit from the most used keys and still I just can't throw it away )

Yeah I told him about it, but he does not seem to care about mechanical. So I'll let him know about the Lycosa, thanks.

The Lycosa is a TERRIBLE keyboard, its about as bad as you can get.

Have a look at http://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Mechanical-SGK-4000-GKCL1-US/dp/B0068INSUM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1364492330&sr=1-1&keywords=CM+Storm

The CM Storm QuickFire Rapid is an great keyboard made by Costar Electronics. It is practically a re branded Filco Majestouch 2 TenKeyLess which is one of the best keyboards on the market. Period. every one who knows about keyboard will tell you the same thing.

If you need help deciding on what switch type to choose check out this fantastic mech keyboard guide:

It seems you know your subject ! Glad you commented. The only thing is that awesome mechanical keyboard you are talking about is not backlit ... I'm a terrible typer and I don't use my keyboard much except for gaming so when in the dark, I kind of need the blue light. Do you have another idea ?

Get better at typing. tongue.gif Seriously, mechanical keyboards are absolutely worth it. I don't know a single person who could go back to "rubber dome" keys after using a mech keyboard.

You should ditch the blue LED and go for mechanical. If you want RED leds I can find one that's that price, mechanical and have a red leds.

No problem dude thumb.gif. It will be a struggle to get a backlit mechanical keyboard for $70 but I really wouldn't recommend choosing back lighting over cherry switches. If you can I would save up extra..... or buy a lamp tongue.gif

The mechanical keyboards that have blue backlighting are:

Ducky Shine II DK9008 http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/en/DK9008_shine2.html
Ducky Shine II DK9087 (Tenkeyless) http://www.duckychannel.com.tw/en/DK9087_shine2.html
Cooler Master QuickFire TK (you will have to choose cherry blue switch to get blue backlighting) http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/
QPAD MK-80, http://www.qpad.com/products/keyboards/mk-80/
The older version of the Razer Blackwidow (the newest version has green backlighting)
Corsair K90 http://www.corsair.com/vengeance-k90-performance-mmo-mechanical-gaming-keyboard.html
Gigabyte Osmium http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4179#ov

also WASD (http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/) will be releasing an updated version of their keyboards, the v2, which will have backlighting. I spoke to the owner of WASD this week and he said there is no set release day but it is expected to be released in June.

The only ones I would recommend are the Ducky Shine II and the WASD v2 as these are both top quality keyboards, but I would still take any of the others (if I had to) over a rubber dome keyboard any day.

Some things to keep in mind:

Razer Blackwidow has questionable build quality.
Corsair K90 is not fully mechanical - the macro keys, function keys and delete, page up, page down cluster are rubber dome.
