I do want to OC for future proofing but if you read the whole thread, I just can't afford a 3570K because the price is quite expensive in here.

You can still OC a 3470/3570 then. 4 multipliers . So that will take:

3470 + 4 multi = 3.8 - 4Ghz

3570 + 4 multi = 4 - 4.2Ghz

Then you will have + 5mhz on the BLCK on top of that. This is only supported on a Z77 platform though. biggrin.gif

My advice would be to grab a 660ti or a 670. 680 isnt worth the extra money when you have a budget for 1k. Grab the i5 3750k so you can overclock (if you wish) then get a fairly decent motherboard and power supply. No point skimping on other components just so you can get a flagship graphics card that might net you only like 10fps more, when you are already above or close to 60fps.

10 fps more is a huge margin for me especially when gtx 680 is more future proof. I'm the kind of guy who want all the eye candy in gaming and smooth frame. Even the cheapest mobo and psu available in their shop is still quite expensive, I hope they've a new and cheaper stock. I'll consider your recommendation though.

Why not consider a HD 7950?

For your information, I've many upcoming games in my list. Arma 3, DayZ Standalone, Battlefield 4, COD Ghost, GTA 5, The Elder Scrolls Online, Path Of Exile, Metro: Last Light, PS2 Emulator, Assassin's Creed IV, Dark Souls 2, Watch Dogs and so on. Of course the older one such as Battlefield 3, DayZ Mod, Skyrim and stuff like that. I know that a GTX 680 is capable running them on ultra plus MSAA but how bout the cpu??

I won't go for AMD cpus at the moment and of course I don't have the time waiting for Haswell.

Its more like 10% instead of 10 fps. So if you get 70 fps on the 680, you might get 63 with the 670. I have the 670 with my 1080p monitor and I max everything I play, including the more demanding games such as Bf3 and I am usually around 60-80 fps in it. I still would recommend the 670 and put your money towards the cpu for a nice balanced system.

Let's just get straight to the point and answer the man's question.

Intel Core i3 2100 would be the absolute LOWEST I would go. Anything lower and you will notice severe bottlenecking. To be honest, because you have such a limited budget, you should've gone with AMD. They have the best price/performance ratio, a lot better than Intel. This is coming from an Intel guy BTW smile.gif Also, an overclocked 670 will perform almost identically to a stock 680. However, please note that the 680 can also be overclocked...

Hope this post helped thumb.gif

If you have the cash on hand, just ask a friend to buy the parts for you and give them the cash for it. Or get a prepaid card.

I don't know what store you're buying at, but double check to see if they do price-matching because that would be awesome for you.

If none of that works, go for the 670 (or 7950/7970). The 3570k will have a much better resale value in time than its non-overclockable cousins.
