Talk me out of 670 SLI - Page 7

Cheapest price of a GTX 670 on Amazon UK is £290. I have my phone set to alert me of any new postings of GTX 690 on ebay ( I already have one, just curious) and one popped up a few days ago "Buy It Now" for £595 (used) and it sold about 10 hours later. So, in the UK I could have the most powerful graphics card for the price of two 670's.

I feel bad for you - my 670s together cost around 75% of a 690.

Don't feel bad - I bought it new OEM on ebay for substantially less than the list price even though we in the UK pay 20% tax on pretty much everything. Its as sweet as a nut , only takes up one slot and looks beautiful. I gasped when I took it out of the box.

BTW I always stress the bonus of buying used items on ebay since computer components either work or don't work and if I get them cheap I am a happy bunny thumb.gif

I have a 120hz monitor and GTX 670 SLI, no regrets here.

I did some testing on my rig and here's the results:

As you can see big gains in most games/ benches and i can't stand to turn SLI off now. I haven't had any micro stuttering, the only issue i had was heat. My top card would get to 80c when overclocked, but i made a new side panel with an intake fan and now it sits happily at 67c max.

I say go for it. With a 120hz monitor you can't go wrong.thumb.gif

I want to future proof this rig for BF4 and get more FPS now in BF3. This is also a cheaper alternative as I already own a SC 670 already that EVGA gave me in a RMA for an upgrade over the normal 670 which burnt out to heating issues.

Well I'm guessing it's too late but, Don't do it! Honestly Is one card not enough?

One GTX 670 isn't enough if you want to get the most from your 120hz monitor at maximum settings.

For a single 60hz monitor, one is enough.
