Buying IME 3.0 after EC1

Hi, all.

Sooo, I have the opportunity of buying the dark gray variant of Intellimouse Explorer 3. I hear IME 3.0 is almost exactly the same shape as Zowie EC1, except for length, the 3.0 seems to have longer buttons but that shouldn't be of any importance to me as EC1 is already long enough. I'd like to know if there are ANY other differences between the mice. So far I prefer the shape of my old Deathadder to EC1, so if there are no differences between EC1 and IME3.0 I could skip the IME knowing I won'tmiss anything. If there are even slight differences, I'd be grateful to hear more of them, and if they offer any reason to try out IME3.0 after EC1.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I've used both of these mice and they are quite different.
The EC1 has a far better build quality and its sensor tracks at much higher speeds than the IME one. The liftoff distance is higher on the IME although I think it can be fixed with some tape over the led.

I'm currently using my IME because my EC1's mouse wheel skips when I scroll down while pushing it slightly to the side. Apart from this problem i'd say that it is a great improvement over the IME.

If you are happy with the EC1 don't bother with the IME.
Hope it helps.

Thanks a bunch! I understand the differences are more technical than ergonomic, no? Then I'll just stick to EC1 then and maybe buy a DA when Zowie has served its time (maybe Razer will have released a version with flawless sensor by then biggrin.gif)

I had that issue as well. I found that the pin connecting to the wheel wasn't pushed all the way in. So I just pressed it together real hard (was a air pocket blocking the shaft), after that the scroll has registered every single notch smile.gif

I find EC1 to be better than 3.0 in almost every way. The only thing I prefer with the IME is the feel of the buttons, but that can probably be fixed with the right microswitches.
