for a fact. OC 7970 from gigabyte is voltage locked. REV2.0 +.. you can do some overclocking. but it's not that smooth. i believe you can flash the GHZ Bios to that..

go to the amd section to find out how.

I decide to go for 7950 to save few pounds sooo

Gigabyte Windforce 3X Radeon HD 7950

or

Sapphire HD7950 Vapox-X

What is the maximum OC on that gigabyte above ? Ive read some ppl get 1150mhz on sapphire but nothing found regarding gigabyte

Here is a Gigabyte overclock http://www.overclock.net/t/1328091/gigabyte-hd7950-windforce-3-overclock, but just because one person can get that high of OC doesnt mean you will be able to achieve the same.

Definetly don't get the Gigabyte. It has been overclocking terribly lately. I would get the MSI TFIII 7950. Best overclocking 7950 out there right now and it seems to mostly be good quality PCB. Most people get an overclock of 1200/1575 out of it. Please don't waste your money on a Vapor-X.

I hear the Gigabytes newer revisions of the cards sometimes have trouble overclocking past 1050Mhz. Not sure how their customer service is. The Sapphire cards just feel cheap IMO. The customer service is horrible so if your card ends up being defective and you have to RMA to Sapphire be prepared to spend hours trying to get a hold of them and once you send it out be prepared to say goodbye to it for a while (my personal experience). The MSI TFIII 7950 is a really high quality card. The shroud on it is high quality machined metal with "MSI Twin Frozr III" machined in unlike Sapphires black plastic shroud with stickers on it. Most people I see can overclock it to at least 1150Mhz. Also, the 3 year warranty is great, especially when dealing with a great company like MSI. So that is just my 2cents.gif' from my own experiences. Let us know what your desicion is going to be!

At the same clock, there is a 10% difference between 7950 and 7970.
However, 7970 has better build quality which means better overclocking potential.
