Sell second monitor or keep and run two?

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
I just bought a 22" 1680X1050 monitor. It looks great. But I also have my old monitor, a 18" 1280X1024 Sony. The height lines up pretty well so I'm thinking about keeping the Sony as a second monitor. Is it worth it or should I sell it?

What kinds of things do you guys do with your dual monitor setups? Porn and homework at the same time? I can't think of why I'd need it cause I don't have homework. Educate me please.

LOL @ Porn, you can always remove the frames and have über1337 widescreen pr0n.

</joke>

For me, I'd just stick them up to eachother, when you do benchmarks and such you just stretch the monitor so the game splits at each monitor.
But again, I don't think it'll look good when it isn't the same resolution.

I like my dual setup for a few reasons

1. I do web design. So I usually have Dreamweaver on one screen and the web on the other so when I make updates I can see it live without having to minimize/maximize screens. Or I have DW on one and photoshop on the other. really makes working nice!

2. Its nice to have the internet on both and do dual browsing. EX: OC.net on one and another unamed forum on the other..etc..

Dual setups FTW!

Are both monitors LCD? I have been looking for a 17-19" LCD monitor for a while.... If not, keep both. I love dual monitor setups, except it doesn't work with SLI on.

Yeah, that's a good idea. However, he is using 2 uneven sized monitors. If he used 2 even sized monitors, I would've recommended the same

I use multiple monitors (2 at home, 3-4 at work via triplehead2go). For working, it's great to have the extra desktop space and run multiple app's. At home gaming, I use the 2nd to have irc, ventrillo, and x-fire so I can "keep up with who's on and where" while playing...

It's also nice for gaming. Main monitor for the game while you can still monitor incoming IM, temps, performance, ect on the other.
Once again...
