COMPUTER: Does this computer look good for a 2k - 2.5k budget - Page 3

Not really sure why these folks think they need crazy computers when they seem to be playing on a single 1080p display.

Here's Crysis 3

You can see a 7970 kicks a lotta buttz for 400 bucks, not to mention the game comes free with it, among bioshock infinite, tomb rader, and one other game I can't remember. Plus, nothing is stopping you from throwing in a second, or even a third later on. Keep in mind these scores are not overclocked, for a card like a 7970 you can add another 10% performance in about ten clicks and one minute.

Save some money and buy a 7970 if you're gonna be playing on a single 1080p display, or maybe a second if you're doing 1440P (You totally could with your insane budgets.)

Heck , according to this you may even get a 670 for less than the 7970 ( 2 fps difference isn't all that big) for 1080p single monitor gaming thumb.gif

I think that extra gig of VRAM that's probably not being used and more OC headroom make the 7970 a better card, not to mention the four free games.

I think this is MUCH better for the money.

This, except swap ASUS Z77 Sabertooth for ASRock Z77 Extreme6 or Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H

Drop the third 7950 altogether (not needed, waste of money)

Upgrade the Samsung 840 for an 256GB 840 Pro (OS/Programs).

Add a Second Samsung 840 Pro for Games.

Upgrade the WD Caviar Blue to a WD 1TB 10k RPM VelociRaptor Drive

Drop the Corsair Vengeance, upgrade to G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 2133

Drop the overpriced Cooler Master PSU for SeaSonic X Series X-850 (139.99 after rebate)

and you got yourself a beast of a rig.
that works just fine thumb.gif
