I am so sad right now. I ordered from Coollaboratory my CLP and for some reason in the address they shipped it to my Apartment # was not included. I checked my profile in their account and for some reason i had 2 addresses one with my Apt # one without. The funny thing was that the one with Apt # was primary. This is clearly their system fault. I hope they sent it again. Wither way i waisted almost 2 weeks waiting and i want it so bad to lower these temps.

I use the 2nd one because it's amazing performance for the price. Can get a huge tube of it for < $10.

Was the CLU applied using the same method as it was applied on the die? i.e. an extremely thin layer over the surface of the IHS?

yes it generally is. but i think most gaps overcome this really thin layer so I am not sure but on the instructions it say to do so.
Small wonder.

As requested, here are some pics of my delidded i5-3570k using the vice method...

Took longer to get to the garage than I spent in it... This is a fantastic idea. I'm not sure if it was mentioned or not, but I would recommend placing the cpu in the vice so that the two little tabs/ears on the lid are resting on top of the jaws. This places the core(under the lid) parallel to the vice jaws. This way, when the lid starts to come loose and shift, it has more room to do so before hitting the core. Not that you should be hitting it THAT hard anyway...

Finally take the hammer and give it a few good solid whacks,

Face Palm you relies how un experienced people are gonna take this information, what the heck is wrong with you. doh.gif You use a SMALL BallPeen and start out with alight tap and work your way up very carefully.

I not only say this growing up in and around a garage and tool but, also from fnarfbargle him self. If you really wanna be help you need to SERIOUSLY edit that part.

YAH MAN! DEAD! I did dun what he siad and whacked it real guud and it flung across the room and dun had a crack in it when i found it. cowboy.gif

I know it sounds mean but, I have learned over the years how people can misinterpret things or be ignorant or in worse cases, just plain stupid.

If I could get in the club that would be great. I forgot about a picture with a hammer or vise but rest assured I didn't use any sharp objects.
