That vise is not really designed for that kind of usage anyway. biggrin.gif

I was on the fence about moving to a H220 from an H80, but after seeing the temp drops here, I went ahead and ordered some CLU from FrozenCPU. Can't wait to get it and try this out.

Boy I hope I don't eff it up.

Not sure why, the H220 is a big step up. Nothing gives the temp drops like delidding, but in combo with the H220, its going to be awesome.

Spending $20 on CLU is easier to accept than $140 on a H220 at the moment.

Most people would be fine just going air cooling with delidding. I doubt I will stick with water cooling down the road either. I am not a max lowest temps kinda guy, I am fine with safe temps and safe voltage.

I was mulling over stepping up to a H220 because I was hitting 65c even at low voltage (my room is pretty warm unfortunately) with an H80 so if this delidding and CLU can get me some lower temps for $20, I'll take a crack at it.

No reason why you shouldn't get great results if done correctly. My room gets really hot in the summer also, but that's a simple fix with my AC unit. biggrin.gif

I've been reading over both topics all morning and watching all the videos, I think I can handle it otherwise what an expensive mistake it'd be.
