As we noted earlier this month, Bram Cohen hopes his BitTorrent Live protocol will prove to be a major disruptor for the streaming media business. Today, Cohen shared that BitTorrent Live -- despite its possible patent encumbrance -- will be entirely free for both users and broadcasters who utilize the P2P service

What is your problem, this technology is free, this software... It would improve twitch tv streaming quality considerably...

From information's I found and articles, it works well since the concept is a bit alike bittorrent with seed/leech, if twitch tv used it then the cost of streaming would be radically reduced...

So you have 1 person streaming, 2 guys watching, third guy joins and he gets the stream from those 2 guys if they have good upload speed, if not then he gets from all 3... The more people join the better is connecting and streaming.

I don't think you can really consider this a form of piracy, without some overly dramatic jumps. All that it seems like they are doing is bringing seeding/leaching to video streams. Taking some of the load off of the streaming server and putting it on the viewers. Who ever is streaming the content is in control of their content. Now that doesn't stop them from streaming illegal content , but that is no different than streaming as it is right now. This is just a different approach at transmission part.

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't come out years ago.
Seems like youtube(google) would've thought of something like this long ago.
