hey guys, ive been doing some research and have been unable to come to my own conclusion what option will be best to go with so im looking for opinions. i have an oculus rift dev kit on its way sometime in april and i have ordered a set of 7.1 channel razer tiamats and a razer hydra to compliment this. however i am aware of the audio limitations of the onboard sound card on my sabertooth z77, while it is not a bad one and i wasnt worried about using it with my cheap (roughly 100$) 7.1 channel speakers (never been all that impressed with their quality anyways) i am now seriously considering upgrading as i understand that these headphones are of a much higher quality than my speakers. i began by looking at sound blaster cards after reading many reviews saying they were the best for gaming, but found they are only supporting 5.1 channel audio even on their newest, high end card. my price range is 100-200$ and the priority of use is GAMING (looking for the best surround sound imaging) then movies (needs to have dts support) then lastly music. also the card must be pci-e, my mobo doesnt have a pci slot. and because i will be using the tiamat 7.1 channel headphones i will need a card that has the 4 analog outputs and 1 analog input for the mic, preferably also it should have optical out but is okay if it doesnt as the primary use will be for gaming with the headphones anyways. thanks in advance for your opinions.
